Artist Statement

I prefer to use oil paints on canvas to create an art piece with a unique point of view of the subject matter.  My technique with brush and oil color is painting "a la prima," wet onto wet paint already on the canvas, not aiming for realism, but rather staying alert to the spontaneous opportunities the piece presents during the process.  I usually select the subject matter that says something special to me.  I try to convey that essence in the piece.  Some of my work comes from deep sources like dreams, grief, insecurities whimsey or a pure release of putting paint to canvas.  These happenings are the true expression this artist seeks"  --Mary Pauly Art
